Funds Raised to Help Liquor Store Owner Recover From Attack

A community is coming together to raise money to help a business owner after he was attacked inside his own store.

Earlier this month, two men wearing skeleton costumes beat up the owner with baseball bats and ransacked his liquor store in Palos Verdes Estates.

The Lunada Chase Bank branch is accepting donations to help cover his medical bills and help with repairs.

The incident took place Sept. 11 following a robbery near the Palos Verdes Golf Club, according to the Palos Verdes Police Department.

The assailants entered the Golden Lion Liquor store on Palos Verdes Drive and attacked the owner. The victim suffered a broken arm while trying to protect himself, police said.

A motive for the attack was unclear, police said. Witnesses said the store owner had refused to sell alcohol to underage customers.

Here's the information to make a donation:

Chase branch at 2209 Via Anacapa. Because the bank cannot accept cash donations for the account, cash contributions can be dropped off at Lunada Bay Postal at 2325 Palos Verdes Drive West, No. 220.
