Children Witness Deadly Gardena Triple Shooting

Children playing outside in a Gardena neighborhood scrambled for cover as a shooter opened fire on three people, killing one man Tuesday.

Firefighters responded about 7:15 p.m. to the 1200 block of Rosecrans Avenue, near Budlong Avenue, and located three gunshot victims, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Cellphone video shows neighbors frantically springing to action when the apparent drive-by shooting occurred.

Crystal Caceres said children play outside their houses all the time. When gunshots rang out, the kids scrambled and ran inside anybody's house for cover, she said.

"I was scared because my son was playing outside," said Sara Castillo. "Through my window I saw everybody running...had to run downstairs and look for my child."

One man died from his injuries, said Lt. Mike Saffell of Gardena police.

No children were struck in the shooting.

A suspect description and a motive were not revealed by investigators.
