In an effort to provide good homes for wild horses and burros, the bureau of land management is offering an incentive of up to $1,000 to people who adopt an untrained wild horse or burro.
Those who decide to join the Adoption Incentive Program will be eligible to receive $500 within the first 60 days of adopting the animal and the a second $500 within 60 days of titling the animal.
This program is intended to ease the overpopulation as well as the care costs for untrained wild horses and burros.
There is a fee of $25 at the time of adoption, and the incentive program applies to all untrained animals at BLM, at off-site events and on the Online Corral.
There is a maximum amount of four animals that adopters can take. Animals that have already been trained are not eligible for this program.
