Gov. Declares State of Emergency as Wildfires Roar Through San Diego

Governor Jerry Brown has issued a state of emergency order for San Diego County following recent wildfires that have burned thousands of acres, destroyed homes and prompted the evacuations of thousands of residents.

The order frees up state personnel, equipment, and facilities to help county and regional authorities fight fires and direct emergency resources.

The order was issued for at least seven wildfires that started on May 13 that have burned thousands of acres from Oceanside in Northern San Diego County to Rancho Bernardo, an upscale master-planned community in the northern hills of the city of San Diego.
