Grammy Museum Joins Google for One-of-a-Kind Experience

Google has a new partner and they're coming to a computer near you.

During an event at the Grammy Museum, the tech giant announced Thursday it's collaborating with the museum to bring a one of a kind experience to Google's online Cultural Institute.

"We need to recognize the world is changing rapidly," Congressman Xavier Becerra said. "We can't do things the old way."

The online institute is known for its exhibits and collections from museums and archives all around the world. But this time, Google intends to bring the musical edge of things by incorporating many of the Grammy Museum's displays and history.

"The Grammy Museum celebrates music, which is so much at the cultural level," said Julie-Ann Crommett, program manager of Computer Science Education. "I can't think of (a) better partnership in that way."

Crommett also mentioned that music influenced her experience growing up in a Latino household.

"There is definitely a connection between the Latino community and music," Crommett said. "From the fashion to the music, it's a big part of the Latino community."

She hopes many different communities can benefit from the cultural aspect the museum brings.

In addition to the event, the museum opened up its doors to a group of middle school girls in order to empower them as females in the tech industry. They took part in a coding class where they learned different ways to program.
