The Metro Green Line, a portion of which has been closed on weekends since July as crews work to connect it with the future Crenshaw/LAX Line, will remain open in its entirety through the upcoming Labor Day weekend.
According to Metro, the weekend work that has been closing the Green Line each weekend between the Crenshaw and Redondo Beach stations will be suspended for the holiday weekend.
The closures will resume Sept. 6 and continue through October.
During the closures, which begin Fridays at 9 p.m. and end at 3 a.m. Mondays, bus shuttles are used to replace rail service to the shuttered stations. The shuttles run every 15 minutes. The stations affected by the closures are:

-- Aviation/LAX;
-- Mariposa;

Regular Green Line rail service operates normally between the Norwalk and Crenshaw stations.
Construction on the rail connection between the Green and the Crenshaw/LAX lines began in January when rail tracks were installed, followed by the installation of overhead power lines. The latest closures are being done to allow Metro to test rail systems software.
The Crenshaw/LAX Line -- connecting the Expo and Green lines -- is scheduled to open in 2020. The 8.5-mile light rail line will have eight stations serving the Crenshaw, Inglewood, Westchester and LAX areas.
An additional station is under construction at Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street, where Crenshaw/LAX Line and Green Line riders will be able to transfer to the future LAX Automated People Mover to access airport terminals.
Both the Aviation/96th Station and the People Mover are scheduled to open in 2023.
