Gunman Robs Pizza Hut, Subway in Orange County

A Pizza Hut in Santa Ana and a Subway in Orange were robbed Wednesday night, the latest in a series of robberies of Orange County fast food restaurants.

The robbery of the Pizza Hut at 2003 W. First St. was reported around 8:20 p.m., according to Santa Ana police Sgt. Rosa Ponce De Leon.

The man handed a note to an employee demanding money while displaying a handgun in his waistband, Ponce De Leon said.

He fled the restaurant with about $200 cash, she said. No one was injured.

The Subway restaurant at 2309 W. Chapman Ave. in Orange was robbed about 20 minutes later, according to the Orange Police Department.

The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded cash, police said. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash and no one was injured.

The suspect is believed to be the same in both robberies and is suspected in several fast food restaurant robberies across Orange County within the last few weeks, including the robbery of a Costa Mesa McDonalds Tuesday, according to Ponce De Leon.
