A hammer-wielding thief was being sought by police after smashing the window of a Trader Joe's early Monday and making off with cash and bottles of alcohol, according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
Police surrounded the grocery store in the 1800 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard after its alarm went off about 2:19 a.m., police said in a news release.
No one was found inside the store, but police did see broken glass from the smashed window, according to the release.
The man used a hammer to get inside the store and took cash and alcohol, police said.
