Angelenos looking to stay fit may want to take a jog -- all the way to Minneapolis.
The annual American Fitness Index is out, and the Southland ranked a paltry 41 of out of 50 metro areas. The Twin Cities took the No. 1 spot this year.
A city's score is based on a variety of factors, including diet, obesity, smoking, parks and health care.
Los Angeles scored points for its public transportation and lack of smokers. Inactivity, diabetes and lack of parks hurt the score.
The index is compiled by the American College of Sports Medicine.
