A new concept of all-inclusive medical care is helping many baby boomers who are worried about getting their aging parents to all their doctor appointment, while also making sure they're cared for during the day.
The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly – or PACE – aims to take care of seniors' medical and social needs, all under one roof.
Adriane Lubin was worried about getting her 84-year-old mother-in-law Elsye to all her doctor appointments.
“It was hard to juggle everyone -- whether it be a cardiologist, or vascular, even her primary care doctor. Was always, ‘I need to go today. Can you come pick me up?’” Lubin said of her mother-in-law, who had fallen and broken her ribs but did not want to move into a nursing home.
That's where PACE came in. Lubin brought her mother-in-law to the Brandman PACE Center in Reseda.
The program provides transportation to and from seniors' homes to the center. And various doctors practice on site, including primary physicians, dentists, podiatrists, psychiatrists and social service workers.
A gym and physical therapy are also available on site.

“For our seniors who would like to remain at home as long as possible, this is an ideal option. Because it provides a sense of security for families, and also for the loved one that they can receive services at the center,” said Larissa Stepanians, chief operating officer of Los Angeles Jewish Home, which oversees the Brandman PACE Center.
PACE centers are government subsidized for those on Medicare and Medi-Cal, so costs are kept low. Onsite staff help coordinate all medical payments.
