LA-Based Health Drink Sued for False Advertising

Do you know what is in your health drink?

The Federal Trade Commission is getting angry with a popular purple drink hailing from the Los Angeles based Company POM Wonderful. On the basis of exaggerated claims that the Food and Drug Administration brought up with POM Wonderful the FTC decided to step in and take control of the situation. POM Wonderful claims their drinks and dietary supplements help prevent and treat against heart disease, prostate cancer and also erectile dysfunction.

POM is fighting back with statements that they have spent over $34 million dollars to study the positive effects of their so-called miracle drink and they stand by the released research claims and current advertising campaign that continues to push the drink as a wonderful and life altering.

The FTC claim the ads make, "false and unsustainable claims."

These allegations raise a common question. Do you really know what is in your health drink that you're downing every morning? Doing some quick research and being aware of what you're drinking is an easy task that can make a huge difference in your diet.

POM Wonderful drink may be made of pure pomegranate juices, but exaggerated claims seemed to have started to tarnish their squeaky clean "wonderful" image. It will be interesting to see what happens with POM Wonderful and the FTC, but it's refreshing to see the FTC step in and make sure claims on food labels are correct and accurate for the common consumer.
