Firefighters Rappel Down Mountainside in Griffith Park Hiker Rescue

Firefighters scaled down the side of a mountain in Griffith Park to rescue a hiker Monday.

The hiker was said to be uninjured, fire officials said.

The rescue operation began when firefighters received a call of a hiker in distress at 3:25 p.m. near Bee Rock.

A firefighter rappelled down the side of the mountain to get to the man who was apparently stuck.

The firefighter helped the man scale back up the mountain to safety.

He walked away from the incident after the firefighter helped him to safety.
