Brenda Joyce Scott of Carson was fatally injured about 6 p.m. Feb. 24 at 95th and Hoover streets, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. A news conference was planned at the accident scene later this morning, when police are expected to release the name of the suspect.

According to police, Scott was driving a Mercedes-Benz south in the 9500 block of Hoover Street when a silver Jeep Renegade ran a stop sign at 95th Street and slammed into her car. She died at the scene.

Security camera video showed the violent collision. Two women were seen running from the Jeep, which was lifted off the ground when it slammed into the Mercedes-Benz.

Witnesses said the women stayed at the scene for about 30 seconds before running off.
