Hollywood Streets Close for Academy Awards

It's that time of year again! Preparations for the 88th Academy Awards are underway in Hollywood where street closures are expected to expand.

Several streets have already been blocked off ahead of the big night on Feb. 28. The most notable closure is the shtudown of Hollywood Boulevard between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive. That stretch will remain closed until 6 a.m. March 1.

The closures will accommodate the construction of press risers, fan bleachers and pre-show stages along the Oscars' red carpet, which will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Metro Red Line trains will bypass the Hollywood and Highland station after the last regularly scheduled train on Saturday, Feb. 27. Service at the station will resume 6 a.m. Feb. 29.

Street Closures:

  • The south sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard between Orange and Highland, with the exception of an 8-foot pedestrian access.
  • The north sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard directly in front of the Dolby Theatre portal.
  • The north sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland to Orange, with the exception of an 8-foot pedestrian access.
  • The pedestrian mid-block crosswalk on Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and Orange.
  • The Hawthorn Alley on the east side of the El Capitan Theatre will close from Hollywood Boulevard south 210 feet.

Additional streets and sidewalks will be closed for varying periods leading up to the event. Click here for detailed maps.
