As many as three burglary suspects who claimed to be police officers forced their way into a West Covina home where residents, including children, were present early Thursday morning.
The suspects yelled, "police" and "search warrant" as they entered the home in the 2200 block of Pacific Park Way about 4 a.m., according to West Covina police Lt. Travis Tibbetts.
"The occupants were astute enough to realize it was not the police and called 911," Tibbetts said. "Officers arrived on scene in less than three minutes but the suspects fled in what is believed to be a four-door dark sedan before the officers arrived. The suspects stole a television prior to fleeing the scene. No one was injured during the incident."
The suspects, who were recorded on security video, were described only as "young males."
"No weapons were seen but West Covina police want to warn the public that these types of suspects could be armed," Tibbetts said.
Anyone with information regarding the suspects or the break-in were urged to call police at (626) 939-8688.
