Hundreds of marijuana plants were seized after a fire at an industrial complex in Costa Mesa Tuesday.
The 4:30 p.m. blaze in the 1800 block of Whittier Avenue started due to a power overload to the electrical box, which was illegal tampered with to provide free electricity for indoor marijuana growth, said Sgt. Matt Grimmond of the Costa Mesa Fire Department.
A warrant was obtained and 257 marijuana plants were located, all in varying stages of growth.
