One person was injured after allegedly being struck with a hatchet during a fight near downtown Huntington Beach over the weekend, police said.
Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a fight on Pacific Coast Highway between 1st and Huntington streets, the Huntington Beach Police said.
Officers received conflicting reports about what had happened. What they do know is an altercation took place between "a number of subjects" and one person allegedly had been struck with a hatchet, which was recovered at the scene, the HBPD posted on Facebook.
One person was arrested, but no further information on the case was provided.
"The incident is still under investigation, and we are not releasing further details at this time to ensure the integrity of the case," police said.
The extent of the victim's injuries was also unclear.
