HP RoboCop Joins the Force in Huntington Park

Huntington Park will introduce the newest member of their team, "HP RoboCop," at a city council meeting Tuesday night in an effort to provide additional surveillance for the safety of the community.

The K5 robot model will be officially introduced at City Hall, but has already been hard at work patrolling Salt Lake Park.

"I'm very excited that we can officially call on HP RoboCop to help our police officers patrol our city," Mayor Karina Macias said. "This is a big accomplishment for our city and introducing HP RoboCop shows innovation and the incorporation of new technology. I am certainly impressed with HP RoboCop and can't wait to see the public safety benefits it will bring to our community."

HP Robocop" is a machine that is meant for outdoor patrols and monitors nearby areas like parks, city buildings and corridors where police might not be able to reach.

"HP RoboCop's capabilities are extremely impressive," said City Manager Ricardo Reyes. "In particular its ability to use its microphone to deter criminal activity and its mobility to patrol large open spaces."

Its 360-degree HD video, among other features, can provide police with information that can assist in lowering crime and offer assistance in further investigations.

"The police department is proud to welcome HP RoboCop as an official member of the police force," Police Chief Cosme Lozano said, "The extra help will definitely give the officers more time to focus on other community issues. I am confident he will fit right in."
