Increased Bus Service Coming To LA Arts District

"New bus services means less congestion on our roads and a cleaner environment for our kids," Garcetti said.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and other city leaders announced Thursday that DASH bus service will soon be altered to better serve the Arts District in downtown.

Starting Monday, Route A will expand the service area to include stops at Molino Street and Palmetto Street; Palmetto Street west of Hewitt Street; and Alameda Street and Fourth Street.

"New bus services means less congestion on our roads and a cleaner environment for our kids," Garcetti said. "These new DASH stops will ensure everyone who comes downtown can experience all the Arts District has to offer, in a sustainable, efficient, and affordable way."

DASH currently has five routes downtown serving Chinatown, Little Tokyo, the Arts District, the Financial District, South Park, and other surrounding neighborhoods.

"Many of our Arts District residents requested expanded bus service, and we are happy to fill that need with an updated DASH route," said Councilman Jose Huizar, who represents the Arts District. "It's a plus for local residents, as well as those who can now easily and affordably visit the district and still stay connected to the rest of downtown Los Angeles."

The Arts District is bordered by First Street to the north, Seventh Street to the south, Alameda Street to the west and the Los Angeles River to the east.
