An investigation is underway after federal officials say thieves have targeted a number of Orange County gun stores in the past four days.
On Aug. 29, officers from the Fountain Valley Police Department responded to a call of a possible burglary at Orange County Firearms in the 17150 block of Newhope Street in Fountain Valley.
Store employees said someone had broken a window leading into the business, according to police. An unknown number of firearms were stolen, police said.
Four days later, on Sept. 2, another broken window prompted a burglary alarm at Rifle Gear Firearms in the 18000 block of Mount Shay Street in Fountain Valley, police said.
According to police, suspects entered the business and took firearms from inside the store.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said at least four Orange County gun shops were being targeted. The agency is working with local departments in the investigation of these burglaries.
No injuries were reported during the burglaries.
