DUI Suspect Crashes a Range Rover Into Orange County Jail's Entrance Gate

The early morning crash damaged the entrance gate at the James A. Musick jail

A 19-year-old suspected drunken driver crashed her Range Rover into the entrance gate Monday morning of an Orange County jail in Irvine.

The driver was arrested quickly after the 3:30 a.m. crash at the James A. Musick jail. The impact of the crash left the gate on the ground across the entrance road to the jail, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The brown-colored Range Rover Evoque sustained significant front-end damage and came to rest on top of a short concrete wall. The driver was booked on suspicion of DUI.

The sheriff's department said it was grateful no one on duty at the gate was injured.

"While this damage can be fixed, we know that's not always the case with DUI collisions," the sheriff's department tweeted. "Losing a loved one or friend is irreparable. Please always designate a driver or coordinate a ride."

The name of the suspect was not disclosed.
