Irvine Police Trying to Identify Child Annoyance Suspect

The Irvine Police Department sought the public's help Wednesday in identifying a man accused of groping a 13-year-old girl at an office supply store.

The girl, whose name was withheld, went with her mother to an Office Max store on Jamboree Road on Aug. 14. The suspect approached the teen at 7:50 p.m. while she was alone in an aisle and touched her inappropriately while asking what she was shopping for, then quickly fled, according to police.

The suspect was described as being of Indian descent, in his 40s or 50s, 160 to 170 pounds and 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with short black hair. He was clad in a long-sleeve dress shirt, dark-colored pants and black dress shoes, and was wearing dark blue or black glasses.

Anyone with information about his identity was asked to contact Irvine Police Department Detective Keith Herter at 949-724-7183 or kherter@cityofirvine.org.
