Police Thursday detained a man at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center in Harbor City after officers were sent to the facility on what turned out to be an unfounded report of a man with a gun.
Officers went to the clinic about 11:50 a.m. and checked on a vehicle that someone said was occupied by a possibly armed suspect, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The medical facility was placed on a lockdown as a precaution, and officers searched for and finally located a man described as a suspect about 1:15 p.m., police said.
"At this point, we have no evidence of a gun or a shooting," according to a statement from the LAPD Harbor Division.
The lockdown was lifted, and the investigation was continuing.
