LA County Sheriff's Deputies Raid Illegal Pot Shops

Eight people have been arrested at what authorities allege was an illegally operated marijuana shop in Mission Hills, police said Wednesday.

The arrests were made after a narcotics unit from the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Station served a warrant about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the location in the 15400 block of Devonshire Street, near Sepulveda Boulevard.

Several items of evidence and contraband were confiscated, police said.

"This location was operating without the proper permits and was also considered a nuisance location,'' according to a police statement.

Enforcement efforts against suspected illegal pot shops will continue, promised Capt. Natalie Cortez, commanding officer of the Mission Station.

"We value our community's safety and this type of illegally operated business only brings in an unwanted criminal element," she said. "It's our goal to keep our community safe and informed of our enforcement efforts."

Police did not release the names of the arrested suspects.

Anyone with information regarding possibly illegal marijuana operations in the Mission Division was urged to contact police at (818) 838-9300. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS or lacrimestoppers.org.
