1 Arrested After Fire Erupts in Santa Monica Apartment Building

One person was arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire erupted at an apartment building in Santa Monica

The fire was reported just after 1:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Euclid Street, according to the Santa Monica Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived, they found one unit of the two-story complex fully involved. The garage below the units suffered minor water damage. No other units were affected.

Witnesses said they heard a loud boom that sounded like an explosion before the fire broke out.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital for dehydration and was later released.

No other injuries were reported.

Santa Monica fire officials said the person who occupied the unit involved was arrested.
