A 1-year-old girl died Saturday after she was run over by a pickup truck driven by a relative in Anaheim, officials said.
Laila Arman was hit in the driveway of her family's home in the 600 block of East Camino Manzano around 5:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Daron Wyatt with the Anaheim Police Department.
The family was having a birthday party when a 22-year-old relative was exiting the driveway in her pickup truck and felt like the truck hit something, Wyatt said. The driver stopped and realized she had run over her 16-month-old niece.
The child's father then took her to Placentia-Linda Community Hospital in Placentia where she was pronounced dead at 6:21 p.m., Wyatt said.
Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities, according to Wyatt.
