Interstate 10 near Palm Springs will be temporarily closed in both directions overnight Wednesday and Thursday, as road crews erect a frame for a new overpass.
"We're anticipating some pretty heavy traffic," California Highway Patrol Officer Ramon Perez said. "We want to warn the public to please avoid the area if possible."
Westbound lanes at the Palm Drive exit are expected to begin closing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, with all lanes expected to be closed by 9 p.m., according to Perez.
Detours will be posted, and westbound lanes should reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday.
Starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, the CHP will start closing eastbound lanes, which should reopened about 4 a.m. Friday, Perez said.
