10-Year-Old Missing Child Found

Los Angeles Police officers have located a 10-year-old boy who had been missing for several hours Friday afternoon.

Earl Stanley Tate was found at the home of some family friends in Gardena after they contacted authorites, said police.  He had made the six to seven mile walk by himself.

He was returned to the home of his mother at around 11:30 p.m. Friday night by officers, said the watch commander at LAPD's Rampart Division Station.

Los Angeles Police asked for the publics help late Friday night in finding Tate after he disappeared around 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Police reported in an e-mail the youngster was last seen near the 1900 block of Palm Grove Avenue in the Mid-City of Los Angeles.  "He has not been seen or heard from since,"  the e-mail stated.

Young Tate is described as "a male Black with black hair and brown eyes.  He is 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 103 pounds," according to the e-mail.

Tate was not hurt, said police.
