12 People Arrive in Huntington Beach Via Panga Boat

A dozen men and women came ashore on a panga boat in Huntington Beach Monday, but none of them required hospitalization, firefighters said.

Huntington Beach Fire Department Battalion Chief Eric McCoy said firefighters were called by the Department of Homeland Security at 2:48 p.m. to evaluate the 12 people aboard the boat, which washed ashore at Pacific Coast Highway just north of Anderson Street.

The men and women were evaluated and did not have to be taken to an area hospital for treatment, he said.

Further details were not immediately available.
