Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of 17-Year-Old in Santa Ana

Police also determined the attack on the 17-year-old had nothing to do with another assault on a younger teen just after midnight Monday in the 1000 block of North Lincoln Street.

An 18-year-old Santa Ana man was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl he has known for about a year, police said.

Alexis Uriel Dominguez was booked into the Santa Ana jail, with bail set at $100,000, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Dominguez is accused of attacking the teen about 11 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of South Lyon Street. Police initially reported that two men were involved in the attack, but investigators now say Dominguez is the only suspect, Bertagna said.

He said Dominguez is an acquaintance the victim has known for about a year, but police did not release specifics on their relationship.

Police also determined the attack on the 17-year-old had nothing to do with another assault on a younger teen just after midnight Monday in the 1000 block of North Lincoln Street, Bertagna said.

In that case, an intruder broke into the bedroom of a 15-year-old girl and groped her, prompting her to shout for help from her mother, who rushed to her aid, he said.

Santa Ana police on Tuesday released a composite sketch of the suspect, who was described as a tall, lean man with a "buzzed" haircut, who wore glasses, a red flannel shirt and dark jeans. He appeared to be a "disheveled and dirty" transient who had an "odor of alcohol" on him, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Det. Julio Gallardo at 714-245-8378, or email jgallardo@santa-ana.org. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at (855) TIP-OCCS.
