Victims in Porter Ranch Fatal Shooting Identified

"We can say with confidence that the crimes committed were directed at these victims."

The three people found shot and killed in a Porter Ranch home were identified on Tuesday by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The shooting took place in the 20300 block of Via Galileo at  approximately 3:45 p.m., according to the LAPD. Three people were confirmed dead related to the shooting, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The victims were identified as Gary Davidson, 39, of Porter Ranch, Benny Lopez, 46, of Anaheim, and Jesus Perez, 34, of Perris.

"At this time, it looks like someone entered the residence, and there were some shots fired," Cmdr. Alan Hamilton of the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau said in a news conference Monday evening. "There are multiple victims of gunshot wounds inside the residence."

"At some point, someone left this residence following this incident," Hamilton said, citing a large crime scene to recover any potential evidence.

The LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division was conducting the investigation. The residential community has two gated entries. Visitors must be invited in and license plates are documented by security. The community also has several security cameras.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home late Monday night.

It appears someone was allowed into the home, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.

LAPD Capt. William Hayes did not confirm whether items were missing from the home. He said it "clearly" was not a burglary attempt and said police believe that this was not a random act.

Hayes continued, "It is likely that the suspect or suspects were known to the victims...We can say with confidence that the crimes committed were directed at these victims."

In addition, a woman was at the residence at the time of the shooting and contacted police after hearing gunshots, Hayes said.

There was no immediate suspect information available for the public.
