3 Sought in Desert Hot Springs Fatal Shooting

Desert Hot Springs police Tuesday sought three men suspected in the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man.

Samuel Cotton was shot in the upper body in a home in the 68100 block of Calle Azteca about 2:55 p.m. Monday and died at the scene, police Sgt. Radames Gil said.

Police divulged little about their investigation or the circumstances of the shooting. It was unclear if detectives found any witnesses. No motive has been disclosed.

One of many family members who gathered at the home told KPSPLocal2 that Cotton had three children.

"He was a good dude who took care of his family," Cotton's cousin said. He told the station that his cousin was not affiliated with any gangs.

The suspects, described as men in their 20s, fled in a blue sport utility vehicle with chrome wheels, police said.
