3.1 Magnitude Quake Hits Marina del Rey

A 3.1 magnitude earthquake hit Marina del Rey on Friday and hundreds of people reported feeling the shaker.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

The quake, centered about one mile east-southeast of Marina Del Rey, struck at 8:16 p.m. at a depth of 6.2 miles, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of injury or damage, but crews were conducting a routine post-quake assessment, said Michael Pittman, dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

People took to Twitter to report feeling the quake near LAX, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Inglewood, Long Beach and Manhattan Beach.

Charles Elliott said he felt it near LAX.

"Like somebody kicked my chair," he wrote on Twitter.
