Full 405 Freeway Shutdown Saturday Night in Orange County

Both sides of the 405 Freeway will be shut down during the closure, with no lanes open, between Beach Boulevard and Bolsa Avenue/Goldenwest Street in the Huntington Beach and Westminster areas, per the OCTA.

It's Carmageddon, again!

The 405 Freeway is set to fully shut down in Orange County from approximately 11 p.m. Saturday night through approximately 7 a.m. Sunday morning as part of the $1.9 billion I-405 Improvement Project, the Orange County Transportation Authority announced.

Both sides of the 405 Freeway will be shut down during the closure, with no lanes open, between Beach Boulevard and Bolsa Avenue/Goldenwest Street in the Huntington Beach and Westminster areas, per the OCTA.

The closure is "necessary to finish safely demolishing the McFadden Avenue bridge," which travels over the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway lanes per the OCTA.

Drivers should expect major delays Saturday night into Sunday morning, with northbound drivers being detoured off the freeway at Beach Boulevard and southbound motorists being detoured off the freeway at Bolsa Avenue/Goldenwest Street.

The I-405 Improvement Project plans to add one regular lane to the 405 Freeway between the SR-73 Freeway and I-605 Freeway and a second lane in each direction in the center of the freeway, which will combine with the carpool lane to create 405 Express Lanes.

The OCTA encouraged residents to visit the project's website and sign up for furture construction alerts.
