Two CHP Officers Struck by Car After Stopping to Help Driver of Stalled Vehicle

Four people were hospitalized following the crash on the 60 Freeway in Whittier

Four people, including two California Highway Patrol officers, were hospitalized after a stalled vehicle was struck by another driver on the 60 Freeway in Whittier.

The crash was reported at 2:52 a.m. on the eastbound Pomona Freeway east of the 605 Freeway, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said. The four injured individuals were taken to County USC Medical Center.

Details about their conditions were not immediately available. 

The injured CHP officers had stopped to help the driver of the stalled vehicle. They were standing next to it when it was struck by a driver, who was arrested.

Lanes were closed for the crash investigation.
