A pedestrian was killed Monday on the San Gabriel River 605 Freeway in Long Beach, authorities said.
It was reported at 2:30 a.m. on the northbound San Gabriel River Freeway north of Spring Street, said California Highway Patrol Officer Stephan Brandt.
The call began with a report of vehicles on the right shoulder and people fighting in the roadway, Brandt said. That was followed by the reported fatality.
A SigAlert was issued at 3:17 a.m. for lanes No. 1-4 with the HOV lane remaining open, he said.
