A 67-year-old mother died Tuesday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Lakewood, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. on the 3700 block of South Street. The victim was walking across South Street with her adult daughter when she was struck by what appeared to be a black compact Nissan or Honda.
The vehicle left the scene westbound toward Downey Avenue, authorities said.
The daughter was not injured.
