A semi-truck caught fire on the 710 Freeway near the Willow onramp Wednesday night, effectively bringing pre-Thanksgiving Day travel to a standstill.
The incident happened at about 10:45 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) online incident report. As crews were trying to extinguish the blaze, sparks flew from the big rig.
By 11 p.m., white smoke was billowing from the diesel truck and there were no visible flames.
It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured or how the fire started.
