91 Freeway Tolls Reduced

Who would have thought there would be less traffic on the 91 freeway between Orange and Riverside counties?  It's one of the biggest traffic nightmares in the region.

But apparently, that is the case.

Orange County transportation officials have decided to reduce the toll on that 10-mile corridor because fewer people are using it.  Starting Wednesday, tolls will be reduced by 50 cents during seven time slots throughout the day.

It's just one more example of how the recession is affecting our lives.  The slumping economy and high unemployment are to blame for fewer drivers.

Traffic is down by nearly 15-percent in that area...and transportation officials need to raise the toll revenues any way they can.
