A Haunting Hotel Oogie Boogie Display

There's no "Nightmare" to be found at the Disney's Grand Californian lobby. Or wait, there is, and it has a lot of pumpkin panache.

CHECKING INTO A NICE HOTEL? You probably are counting on a few sweet dreams, the kind of night-night niceness that often comes with enjoying a large and comfy bed, a lovely room, and perhaps room service or a trip to the hotel pool, too. But what if you knew that your stay-over destination was currently being visited by none other than Oogie Boogie, the mischievous villain who gives both Santa Claus and Jack Skellington a dickens of a time in 1993's "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas"? Well, it all depends upon what part of the hotel that Mr. Boogie is haunting, of course. And, at least at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Mr. Boogie may currently be seen, in carved pumpkin form, in the inn's spacious lobby. For there's a lavish...

PUMPKIN PATCH DISPLAY... that's on view, through Oct. 31, 2018, and the "Nightmare"-ish favorite is a sweet centerpiece. And we're not pulling anyone's shin bone when we say "sweet," for this pumpkin display really is. The seasonal spread is "... built out of cereal treats, 200 pounds of icing, 100 pounds of chocolate and 300 pounds of fondant," says Disney. And it isn't on the small side, either. "This delicious display sits 15 feet tall and 12 feet wide... and the Oogie Boogie pumpkin is over four feet tall." That should be quite easy to see, when you saunter inside the Grand Californian during your spooky sojourn at The Happiest Place on Earth.

EAGER TO EXPERIENCE... Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort? It's currently adding chills and thrills to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure through the end of October. And, of course, there's a dash of Oogie Boogie charm to be seen, and snapshot'd, in the lobby of the nearby Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, as well as The Haunted Mansion, inside Disneyland Park, where a Haunted Mansion Holiday is the seasonal theme.
