Shooting Victim Found Dead Outside San Gabriel Valley Strip Club

The victim and a cousin were waiting for a ride home outside the club

A man was shot and killed early Thursday outside a strip club in the San Gabriel Valley.

Sheriff's deputies responded at 2:20 a.m. to the 13200 block of Valley Boulevard in Bassett and found the victim, who died at the scene, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The victim was found on a sidewalk outside the Bliss Showgirls strip club.

Investigators said a man got out of a car and fired several rounds.

Relatives identified the victim as Andrew Gallegos, 31, of El Monte. He was employed by a construction company working on projects at amusement parks, his family said.

He went out with his cousin, who was visiting from the Bay Area, after work Wednesday, family members said. They were shot while waiting for a ride home outside the club in what family members said was likely a case of mistaken identity.

"Healthy, handsome, hard-working boy," said aunt Silvia Hernandez. "No reason for him to have lost his life."

A sister said she missed a call from the cousin early Thursday morning.
