Alleged Hit-And-Run Driver Turns Herself In 20 Minutes After Fatal Crash

Witnesses told police the driver fled the scene of the crash.

A deadly hit-and-run claimed the life of a man Wednesday night in Long Beach with the driver allegedly turning herself in about 20 minutes after the fatal collision, police said.

Shortly after 9 p.m. a man was struck by a vehicle on the 6400 block of Paramount Boulevard. He was gravely injured and died at the scene despite attempts to administer aid to him by officers. The victim was from Long Beach and 30-years-old, according to authorities, who were waiting on the coroner to make a positive ID on him.

Witnesses told police the driver fled the scene of the crash.

About 20 minutes later, a 37-year-old Long Beach woman, called authorities and allegedly told them she was driving a 2012 Lexus CT200H involved in a hit-and-run while heading northbound on Paramount Boulevard.

According to authorities, a preliminary investigation appeared to show the victim was walking in the street outside of a crosswalk at the time of the crash and the alleged suspect's car was involved in a collision.

The crash remained under investigation.
