Arrest Made Related to DTLA E-Scooter Assault on 76-Year-Old

An arrest was made after a 76-year-old man was attacked in downtown Los Angeles, with an electric scooter used in the attack, police said Wednesday.

The attack occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, near the intersection of Spring Street and 6th Street, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.

The attacker is suspected of approaching the 76-year-old victim, who was sitting in a chair, and punching the victim several times and knocking the victim to the ground, according to Los Angeles police. The man then allegedly picked up an electric scooter and threw it at the victim, striking the man on the head. The attacker repeated the same action with the scooter again but the victim was able to block the second scooter assault, police said.

Police said the victim suffered a laceration to the head that required staples, along with a cut to his forearm.

The man arrested was not immediately identified.
