One Arrested in Phony Delivery Men Home Invasions

Investigators last week said they were searching for three to four armed robbers who used flowers and balloons as a ruse during the home invasions

Police say they have arrested a member of a group of robbers who posed as delivery men during a pair of home invasions in Garden Grove last week.

Jerry Coleman, 34, was arrested Friday in connection with the cases, Garden Grove police said Monday.

Investigators last week said they were searching for three to four armed robbers who used flowers and balloons as a ruse during the home invasions, one on Merello Street and the other on Hewitt Place. The victims, which included children, were tied up while the homes were ransacked.

The robbers covered their tracks by wearing gloves and wiping down surfaces, but investigators were able to get a look at them thanks to a surveillance camera located outside of the front door of one of the homes.

Coleman, a Garden Grove resident, faces charges of robbery, burglary and kidnapping during a robbery, police said.

Police said the investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information was asked call Garden Grove police at 714-741-5800.
