Baby Shower Results in Shots Fired, Barricade in Hacienda Heights

An allegedly armed man barricaded himself inside a Hacienda Heights residence Sunday night after a dispute over noise from a baby shower next door, a deputy said.

The barricade situation began just before 6 p.m. in the 2400 block of Punta Del Este Drive, Deputy Tracy Koerner said.

The sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau responded to the scene along with the negotiators to assist deputies from the Industry station, Koerner said.

Panis Arnell said that a baby shower for his daughter resulted in a barking dog, which agitated the neighbor. Arnell told NBC4 that he went to his neighbor's front door to apologize and that the neighbor pulled a gun on him after he rang the door bell.

Arnell said the neighbor began shooting at him.

The man was taken into custody just before 1 a.m. after deputies pumped tear gas into the home.
