Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a man riding a bicycle in South Los Angeles early Monday morning.
The crash was occurred around 3 a.m. near Vernon Avenue and Broadway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A mangled bicycle was left at the scene. Bystanders moved over road construction barricades to protect the man's body until assistance arrived.
The victim, only described as a man in his 30s, suffered severe head trauma, police said. He was transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition.
There is no description of the driver or vehicle at this time.
LAPD's Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
