A Big Bear man accused of molesting a child in Arizona was to be extradited back to the state to face charges, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

Shawn Evans, 44, was taken into custody Monday in the 39000 Block of North Shore Drive in Fawnskin, as authorities investigated a report that he had allegedly sexually molested a child 10 years ago in Arizona.

Deputies said they believed there may be more victims in the Big Bear area.

It wasn't the victim who reported Evans to the sheriff's department, but a person he allegedly confessed to, investigators said.

"It's been reported that the sexual molestation happened in Arizona where the suspect and the victim lived at the time," sheriff's spokeswoman Tiffany Swantek said.

It's suspected the crime took place in Tucson. Evans has lived in the small community of Fawnskin for three years. Investigators said he may have come into contact with children through his computer repair business.

"It's important for people to come forward as quickly as possible to stop that victimization...to stop the hurt and let the healing process begin," Swantek said.

Evans was booked on a fugitive felony warrant without bail, pending extradition back to Arizona.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to contact the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station at (909) 866-0100.
