Anyone with a bicycle can get a free ride on May 16.

What to Know

  • To access free LAnow rides, riders need to use the special code BIKELANOW when booking their trips.

To help celebrate this year's Bike to Work Day next week, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation said Thursday it will again offer free rides to people on bikes who use DASH and Commuter Express bus service, and the newly launched LAnow on-demand shared-ride service on that day.

Any rider who either brings a bicycle or wears a bicycle helmet will be given a free ride on these transit services on May 16. To access free LAnow rides, riders need to use the special code BIKELANOW when booking their trips.

"Two wheels are better than four on Bike to Work Day when you can test ride some of the 1,172 total miles of bikeways in the city of Los Angeles," LADOT General Manager Seleta Reynolds said. "If you need an assist from LADOT transit, it's free on Bike to Work Day for people on bikes, as our show of thanks for choosing to ride."
