The UFO-like mansion comedian Bob Hope commissioned from famed architect John Lautner has sold for $13 million after several years on the market.
The 10-bedroom, 13-bathroom estate perched on six acres overlooking the Coachella Valley was initially listed for $50 million in 2013, then dropped in price to $24.9 million.
Lautner, a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright, designed the futuristic Palm Springs home exclusively for Hope and his wife in the 1960s, according to the home's real estate listing. It was finished in 1980.
"If the Martians ever came to Earth, they would know where to land," Hope once said of his spacey mansion.
The new owner is reported to be investor Ron Burkle, whose net worth is estimated by Forbes at $1.54 billion.
