Boy Arrested By School Police After Being Found With Loaded Gun

A boy has been arrested by school police in the San Fernando area after being found with a loaded .45 caliber handgun, authorities said Wednesday.

A Los Angeles School Police Department officer was on patrol about 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 13 about a mile from Cesar Chavez Learning Academy at 1001 Arroyo Ave. and saw two boys with what appeared to be an open alcoholic beverage.

"The officer conducted a pedestrian stop," according to a police statement. "One of the suspects admitted to having narcotics on his person and a loaded .45 caliber handgun. The suspect was immediately detained and arrested for possession of a handgun without incident."

The boy's custody status was not immediately available.
